Last week I had to say goodbye to one of my favorite people of all time…. Megan Ogar is leaving Columbia. I was raised by a family who uses a healthy dose of guilt to keep each other behaving so I had no problem telling Mogar that Columbia was going to get 10% worse for me with her absence. She invited me to her going away happy hour which was magical and fun! I am so happy I got to spend an entire evening with her! Here is what I loved about last night with MEGAN OGAR!
- Seriously, she knows all of the good restaurants, happy hours, appetizers and is the closest thing to a foodie friend I have. We went to one of her favorite establishments, Günter Hans, had the cheese plate took some pictures… then I went all-in on two waffles – the Apricot and the Nutella… Dessert is my weakness. After that, we went and grabbed a quick bite to eat at Teller’s, which is on the corner of the two most adorable streets in CoMo.
- A few weeks ago, I posted this article that I thought was beautiful and amazing about how people relax after a glass of wine with their friends. My favorite quote from the article said, “The first glass of wine is all about the food, the second glass is about love and the third glass is about mayhem.” I thought this was such a beautiful and glorious idea… I mimicked it with Megan! Enjoy the photos.
- I just want to say, I would not be where I am today without Mogar. I will never forget in 2011 when she forwarded me a tweet by a company called “Phired Up Productions,” saying they were hiring a woman’s speaker. In her email she said… “I think you would be perfect at this job, you should apply.” Megan was a senior at Mizzou at the time. She is one of the many inspiring paver stones that has stabilized me as I hop around on my path of life. She was the courage I needed to apply, and honestly, up enough on trends to follow Phired Up on Twitter… I did not have a Twitter account. Megan is poised, polished, kind, hilarious, hard working, and a friend who will drive 11 hours through the night to be by your side. She is a real life Kimmy Schmidt… unbreakable.
CoMo will be a little less bright without her and I would be a rusty turd without her. Thank you Megan Ogar for leaving something sparkling wherever you go. I am so happy you and I were placed in each other’s lives.
