On Sunday, I spoke at Quinnipiac University in North Haven, Connecticut. In the airport I ran into some of my FAVORITE people on the planet! The staff of ALSAC St. Jude! It is so rare that I see people I know in the airport… I attached a pic so you could see. I also traveled with some fellow Phired Up Peeps which made the day just that much better! Here are the highlights of my trip:
- The restaurants we found were pretty much life savers! For breakfast, before our 1:00 start time, we went to a place right by campus called State Street Cafe. I had the california eggs benedict which is essentially a benny with avocado… I ate it without the english muffin to make it a little healthier. We all three also shared the Cinnamon roll pancakes! For dinner, we went into Hartford which is where we stayed the night, and ate at this PHENOMENAL restaurant called Grant’s. The environment was adorable, the appetizers were fun, and the menu all looked good. I had the salmon with beet salad… which I feel like you need to wear a wristband when you eat beets so you don’t freak out the first time you go to the bathroom and think you have some disease.
- Traveling with my co-workers is always the best! I got to hang out with Taylor and Brittany for the day. Taylor literally killed me with his most recent line of jokes he makes… he says things like – put another feather in your belt and a notch in your cap – with a straight face. We had to leave our hotel at 4:40 in the morning on Monday and when the elevator door opened to the lobby, the first thing he said to me (loudly – in a thick Northeastern accent) was “Every day is a gift… you know… you have to cherish it.” Not what you expect that early! But this is why I love the people I work with!
- Quinnipiac Greek life is growing like crazy! The school has three colonies right now and they bring in a new panhellenic group every other year. I love how the entire community is so accepting of new groups and welcome them with open arms. So many of the campuses I attend, the students are terrified of new fraternities or sororities. This entire community believes that the new groups make them better which is so refreshing!
Double bonus section! I got to hang out with the Panhellenic leaders for a half second and meet a sister of mine! Huge shout out to my bae Shelanda Duncan! I am so happy we got to meet!
