This week I celebrate my 5 year anniversary at my company, Phired Up Productions. It is hard to believe that it is essentially one of the longest relationships of my life. When you start your career, you are expecting to learn skills, you expect to meet new people and develop as a professional but I never expected to receive all the things I have received from my company. One of my coworkers, Tina, always says that being at Phired Up will make you a better person, guaranteed. I am thankful for so many things I have received over the past 5 years, but I wanted to highlight these three:
- Purpose: Phired Up has given me my purpose. Well that is not true, I have always had it but it helped me articulate my purpose. I have always been passionate about the college experience, friendships and helping people find their own worth. Being at my company has surrounded me with people who push themselves to be better and just by being around them you become better. Phired Up taught me how to be productive in an office, how to invest in myself, and how to constantly innovate and create. The company I work for has constantly given me feedback on my own strengths and helped me chisel those into finely tuned skills. I deeply value working for a company who is so aligned with my purpose and pushes me every day. In the words of Eric Church: You’ve got a voice, you’ve got a choice, go make some noise… Don’t ever let ’em tell you who you are… Raise ’em up. Thank you Phired Up for helping me to speak my purpose.
- Acceptance: My entire life I feel like I have never been able to fully express myself. I have always felt as if I have had to shrink or make myself small to not irritate others. Phired Up, over the past 5 years has given me the confidence, platform and assurance that who I am is good enough. I did not understand confidence, authenticity or self-love until I worked with Phired Up. I always thought there was something wrong with me, like I was different from everyone, in a bad way. Jessica is my first boss I have ever had who accepts me for who I am authentically… and she values it. My entire company works so hard to help every single person see their worth, and be the best version of themselves. Phired Up never tried to change me, and they stand by me, and loyalty matters to me.
- Grit: We have a set of 5 core values as a company and one of them is grit. This place has taught me how to work hard…. how to push. This job takes tenacity, drive and a little grit. When I was a little girl, I never dreamed of being a teacher, or a doctor or any other of the things I saw in my life. I always wanted to be a busy, successful, hard working, business person. I laugh every time I think about going back into time and telling 8-year-old KJ what I am doing now. I know she would be so happy. I am the person I have always wanted to be because of Phired Up. I love how hard I work at my job. I love having something in my life worth working that hard for.
So thank you Phired Up Productions. Thank you for giving me my voice and trusting me with your heart. Thanks for the most rewarding five years ever.
