Yesterday was a spectacular day! I spoke at San Diego State University in the evening and had the chance to welcome hundreds of new women into the sorority community at SDSU! Here are a few highlights from the tail end of my week!
Morning: I spent the morning running around Lake Union in Seattle which is absolutely the most beautiful run I can imagine. After I finished up with that I went to my favorite breakfast place in the neighborhood, Portage Bay, which I talk about in this post. After my long run, I was starving so it was hard to pick just one option! I love this restaurant because everything is organic, local and it all tastes great! My waitress even let me take my coffee mug home with me! I then headed to the airport to take a direct flight to San Diego. It was such a relaxing morning… Which I never get during this crazy travel season.
The Evening: So I landed in San Diego at 2 pm and began speaking at 4 pm. I worked with the officers from each chapter. I worked with the Recruitment Counselors to get them prepped. I also spoke to every single chapter member to help them feel prepared and excited for recruitment. I finished the night with the Potential New Members. It was PACKED! Today, I have to speak at 10 am back in Seattle so I will be taking the EARLY morning flight out… so, not so relaxing!
Transitional Clothing: It is beginning to get a little cold on the west coast so I have had to be a little more strategic about what I pack and wear. It could be 55 degrees in the morning and then 80 in the afternoon. Whenever I do transition my closet over, I try to play with textures and colors… versus clothing weight. So I LOVE this suede skirt from Free People last year! It is great because suede skirts are ALL THE RAGE for this fall, especially in this rich cognac color which suggests a fall wardrobe staple. I am also leaning pretty heavily on olive and navy as transition colors too because they go great with white for early in the season, browns and grays for mid season and black for late season! Yesterday was tough for packing because of the travel, speaking, and the rain in Seattle. I have been loving my army green coat I got at the Nordstrom Sale for this trip! It has been a life saver to say the least! Can you believe last month I did not even travel with a coat and I have worn this one almost every day! Woah, West versus South and August versus September… things they are a changing!
I am loving all of the pre-Fall wardrobe changes I am seeing! This month I promise to do a large “what styles I have seen on campuses and over all winter fa
shion prediction”. Here me say this though: Military (like my jacket) and 90’s/70’s inspiration (like my suede skirt). TRUST ME!
