On Sunday… I flew BACK to California to speak in San Marcos at Cal State San Marcos on Sunday night. I then hopped on a plane early Monday morning to get back home. Here are the highlights:
- I started this blog for a few reasons. #1 to give people insight into how crazy my life/travel/work is. I heard from so many friends and family members and clients that they never knew where I was or just how much I am always on the run. Trips like this one are absolutely why I started this blog. I feel like my life is so “here today gone tomorrow” that it is easy to forget or to pass by really spectacular moments. Sometimes we are so focused on what’s next that we forget to celebrate our current accomplishments. Sitting on a plane writing this, I know that I am pretty much a warrior… it takes a lot of work to get this done, and it is not easy. Sorry if I ever gloss over things and try and make it look easy.
- I was able to speak with Taylor from our team. Taylor is a super talented dude and honestly a great friend. He has grown up on our team and I am so proud of the man he has become and mostly how dedicated he is to becoming fulfilled, not just successful. He is reading this book that he loves right now, he loves it so much I might buy a copy… called Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance. We had dinner late on Sunday night and we were able to just talk one-on-one which NEVER happens in our lives. I am so thankful for that time!
- Taylor and I have been working with this community for three years now. I have grown up with some of these students. I love them a lot and it is exciting to see how they are turning into the best versions of themselves. They are applying for their first jobs, making new friends, taking on leadership positions they never thought they could and in general just growing so much as a result of college and Greek Organizations. Long term relationships constantly remind me of why I do this work.
It was a crazy weekend with very little rest, but I am thankful to report that we survived and we were successful! Now I am headed for vacation! I will not blog about it until after but if you want to stay posted, follow me on Snapchat: KJ-McNamara or on Insta: @KJMcNamara!
