As a wrap up for my November travel… I spent the weekend in Virginia! Yesterday I spoke at Christopher Newport University in Newport News, VA. Here are the highlights!
- First of all… tragedy struck on my flight to Virginia. I was sitting on my plane and getting some typical work done. Just perfecting and preparing my presentation on my computer for my big day at CNU. When I left my seat before my layover I must have lost my beloved ‘presentation pouch.’ Now many of you might be wondering what in the heck that is. My pouch is the home of my most important stuff for my job: my external hard drive, all of my Mac adaptors, my clicker, my computer charger, my work out video flash drive, and not to mention all of this is housed in my adorable green Longchamp pouch. When I got settled into my seat for my connecting flight, I reached into my bag to grab my pouch and that is when the panic struck. I went to bed that night depressed and terrified. Mostly I was mad at myself for making such a fatal flaw. I got up early the next day to run to Best Buy to replace at least my charger when the airline called me to inform me they had found my pouch! A little November miracle! Holy cow… it could have been a dark day!
- Christopher Newport is a BEAUTIFUL school. The current president is very invested in the aesthetics of the university and I can absolutely see why students choose to go to school here. It was a cold day, the first day where I was reminded that winter is coming. But it was beautiful! One of my GREAT friends Frank began working here at CNU about 14 months ago and I am so thankful we got to see each other. We have had many phone calls where we have brainstormed ideas and shared advice to help him create his team. He should be so proud of his students and how brilliant they are… he has made a major impact! I can absolutely tell!
- It was a fun day and a perfect end before my Thanksgiving break! I spoke to the entire community and the potential members, and talked about what sorority is and why it has been such a positive influence in the lives of so many wonderful people. I helped them communicate some major changes coming along the way for everyone. I am honored they asked me to come… and mostly, I am thankful that I am still able to do this beautiful job with so many wonderful people. Thank you CNU for being my last campus program of 2016! You all are a dream come true!
So many things from this past week could have been a huge burden but ended up turning into this positive thing. I am so thankful I found my pouch and so thankful to have friends in every corner of this country! Happy Monday you all!
