Thursday: We flew in Thursday night. The first thing we did was grocery shop for our apartment. The best piece of advice I have for these types of trips is TRADER JOE’s for wine. I do not know if there is anything you go through more quickly than wine during a girls trip. We bought a mega-bottle thinking there was no way we would crack through that thing… we were wrong. We ate dinner at White Duck Taco Shop. The pork belly was amazing. Afterwords, we waited for the rest of the crew to roll in and tried to get to bed early.
Friday: Nothing is better than the Biltmore at Christmas. We reserved a tour and wound up at the winery at the end. The Biltmore is massive and has some amazing stories. If you go to Asheville… it is a MUST SEE! (We even opted for the audio tour…). By far, MY FAVORITE part of the trip was going to the Grove Park Inn to grab some cocktails and watch the sunset. The National Gingerbread Competition was going on… which provided plenty of material for inside jokes for the remainder of the trip. The Grove Park Inn was PERFECT! We played there for hours it felt like!
Saturday: We started Saturday morning at Biscuit Head, which was my favorite meal of the entire trip. This is exactly what Asheville’s food scene is known for… a delicious, unique hole in the wall! It filled me up for hours! We then shopped around downtown and saw the sights. There are tons of adorable shops with great gifts! My favorite was Duncan and York as well as Mast General Store. After that, we got ready for dinner at a restaurant called Rhubarb. We went to Sovereign Remedies after for a nightcap.
It was an absolutely laid back trip with plenty to do and see. If you visit, make room for breweries because there are tons! The only bad thing was… it was COLD! I was not prepared for the frigid air!
