Happy New YEAR! I am so thankful for another year! I had a blast on New Year’s Eve and I figured I would give you all a little recap!
- The truth about big holidays like New Years and the 4th of July, is people put a lot of hype and pressure into it – wanting it to be AMAZING. Often so many of us look at social media the next day and decide our lives suck. I have had some terrible NYE nights in my life and I have learned a few things. The most important part of a good time is the people. If you are with the right people, all else falls into place. I spent the night with my good friend Cara, and the bae of course. We went to a house party with a whole slough of her lawyer friends. Keep in mind, I knew NO ONE before I went and I trusted that Cara would not lead me wrong. HOLY POOP it was amazing. When you have great friends and they tell you they have great friends… trust them.
- The second part of a great night where the pressure is for real is the attire. Now I know that everyone is obsessed with sparkles and what not on NYE but I want to emphasize the COMFORT! If you are not comfortable, you will not be having any fun… I promise! I opted for an off the shoulder bodysuit from Zara, and a pleated gold midi skirt… which was PERFECT because I was comfortable and I always feel free to get weird in a fit and flare. The only negative thing about my situation was the midi skirt length… totally seasonally appropriate but you HAVE to wear heels with this length and I would have been perfectly happy in a flat boot.
- Finally the music, the food, the drinks and the overall atmosphere is critical… but you cannot always control that. I knew I was in the right place when the hostess (Jessica – who is an Alpha Chi Omega) whipped out a champagne sabre! I got the chance to whip open my own bottle… check out the video… I think I say at the end that this is the best day of my life. Casual. Also, Jessica’s husband Jose started a dance party in their basement after midnight… Cara and I refused to get off the carpeted dance floor until 2:00 am. The bae fell asleep on the couch upstairs. Whoopsie!
It was a perfect night and an awesome way to ring in 2017 for me! We are here you all… January!
